COMMON QUESTIONS

Are you unsure what is the right training method for you and your pet? Hopefully these frequently asked questions will give you the information that you need to better understand the world of pet training.

WHICH OF YOUR SERVICES IS RIGHT FOR ME?

We have three classes of training:

The Young & The Restless

- For newbie trainers, new dogs, or those who have not started to use a Marker word.

We work on basic cues- Sit, Stand, Down/Drop, & Loose Lead Walking.

Middle Management

- After learning the basics you & your dog will "graduate" to Middle Management classes. Here we will continue to work on the basic cues & LLW but add the 3 Ds, i.e. Distraction, Duration & Distance. We will also add Mat or Place work.

The A Team

- These classes are for those who are keen to further extend their training skills and offer even more fun for their dogs. Being able to work off-lead for at least 30 seconds & having solid Sit/Down/Stand behaviours trained are both necessary before moving up to A Team training.

We can discuss which class would be most useful for you. Feel free to give me a call.

If you feel a class is not right for you & your dog you are always welcome to attend the next level up.

IS MY PET TOO OLD TO BE TRAINED?

No dog is ever too old to attend, and enjoy, training. The adage 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks' is complete nonsense. In fact, many older dogs take on a new lease of life when introduced to training.

By the same token, no dog is too reactive or fearful to learn.

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO PET TRAINING?

Pet dog training should be fun for both you and your dog. Positive reward-based training can be effective for all dogs.
There is no need for bribery - yes, there's a difference between rewards based training & bribery - leash jerks, shouting, or becoming frustrated with your dog.
We use a gentler approach that considers the dog, will enhance your relationship with your dog, and will get results.
