Want I Want...

...from starting a dog training business, The Dog Manor, is for dog owners to learn that:

1/ Dog training can be fun.

2/ That dog training can strengthen the bond between you and your dog.

3/ And, that by using positive reinforcement methods (AKA compulsion-free) your dog will be happier and eager to train than if you decide to use harsher methods.

I want my dogs to say, "My turn! My turn!" As in the video; all three were waiting excitedly for their turn, rather than being reluctant to train or having to prove they "respect" me. Instead I have dogs who want to be with me.

That's what I want for all dogs and all dog owners.

Yep, I know it's a lofty goal, but, you know: baby steps, baby steps.

In our silly little training video, my crew didn't have to be there, they could have chosen to leave the room. Instead they all wanted to put their paws on the Balance Board. (Useful for a bunch of reasons.)

Which also demonstrates the versatility of a "Paw" cue, which I think of as an advanced version of "Touch" where the dog targets something with his nose, which is equally as fun. (And something we worked on yesterday in class!)
